Arenal Rafting Class II & III - Balsa River

There is no better way to observe wildlife than floating down a river. There will be one stop for locally grown, organic fruits and another stop for an authentic Costa Rican lunch. Balsa River is just 45 minutes from your La Fortuna hotel. This is the perfect rafting tour for first-timers, families with children, all nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people who are simply looking for a fun rafting adventure in Costa Rica! One of our friendly professional river guides will come by your hotel to pick you up.  After you are picked up from your hotel, we’ll drive through the lush, green Costa Rican countryside to our private Operations Center right next to the river. We are the only company equipped with bathrooms and changing rooms for your convenience and comfort. We will get you fitted with your top-quality rafting gear such as an NRS helmet, lifejacket, and paddle. You will then be divided into groups of 4 or 5 paddlers -- we use high-quality 13-ft rafts that seat up to 5 people plus your guide in the back. Your professional guide will provide paddling and safety instructions to prepare you for your adventure!  You will paddle down over 10 kilometers of continuous, exciting rapids with names like “Congo Loco” and “Rock around the Croc!” Rafting in Costa Rica is a little different than other parts of the world because our rivers have steep gradients with lots of rapids and are a little more technical and shallow, which makes for a fun ride on your rafting trip! As you descend down this beautiful class 2-3 river, you’ll have a chance to admire the lush greenery, vines, and different types of insects, birds, and animals -- your eagle-eyed guides will even point out the monkeys, sloths, and toucans along the way! About half way down the river your guides will provide you a smorgasbord of fresh tropical fruit as you relax with the rest of your group. Arenal Rafting Class III & IV - Sarapiquí River

Get ready for one of the most-extreme rafting trips in Costa Rica! You will love the adrenaline-charged and intense Sarapiquí River class 3-4 Jungle Run section. Desafio has an exclusive entrance to the most-exciting part of this exuberant river! Rafting on the Sarapiquí River is considered one of the "Must-Do" Costa Rica tours near the Arenal Volcano. Bring on the adrenaline on the class 3-4 rafting trip on the Sarapiquí "Jungle Run!" This is the perfect rafting trip for adventurous paddlers! Whether you are a first-timer or a rafting expert, this rafting trip will guarantee to get your adrenaline pumping!  You'll experience over 30 continuous rapids with names like "The Terminator" and "Dos Locos" while surrounded by deep, lush jungle. That's why we call it the Jungle Run! One of our friendly professional river guides will come by your hotel to pick you up. You will then travel through small Costa Rican villages to the quaint town of San Miguel de Sarapiquí. There, your rafting guides will give you the 101 on rafting including safety tips and technical instructions before heading on your 2 hour journey down one of Costa Rica’s most exuberant rivers! We will get you fitted with your top-quality rafting gear such as an NRS helmet, lifejacket, and paddle.You will then be divided into groups of 4 or 5 paddlers -- we use high-quality 13-ft rafts that seat up to 5 people plus your guide in the back. Your professional guide will provide paddling and safety instructions to prepare you for your adventure!  During your descent down the river, you will experience over 40 exciting rapids along 12 km of lush, vibrant rainforest. As you make your way through exciting rapids, we’ll be sure to get your adrenaline pumping!  About half way down the river, you’ll stop and watch the rapids from the shore, while enjoying refreshing tropical fruit and relaxing with the rest of the group. Take a swim and enjoy the rushing waters around you! Then, after the second leg of your rafting journey, you’ll finish the day with a delicious traditional lunch before heading back to your hotel.

Arenal Waterfall Rappel

Go where very few have had the privilege to roam in the Lost Canyon of Costa Rica! Grab your helmet, strap on your harness, and prepare yourself for the adventure of a lifetime! Canyoneering is a brand-new sport that’s becoming very popular all over the world, especially in Costa Rica. The rugged, mountainous terrain near the Arenal Volcano is the perfect place for first-timers and experienced canyoning enthusiasts to do a variety of fun activities as you hike deep into the rainforest and rappel massive waterfalls – the largest waterfall is almost 200ft high! Arenal Waterfall Rappel: Costa Rica's best multi-sport adventure near the Arenal Volcano!  You'll be rappelling down huge waterfalls, jumping into pools, zipping your way down on guided rappels, river tracing along the canyon, climbing down the canyon walls and river boulders and hiking up through the rainforest. We pack all kinds of adventure into the best canyoning experience in Costa Rica!  Your friendly guide will pick you up at your hotel and give you a quick briefing about what you'll expect from this canyoning experience as you make your way past La Fortuna to the entrance of the mountain-top community of Santa Gertrudis just 10 minutes outside of town. It's a bumpy ride up the mountain, but you'll have the best views of the quaint community and lush gardens of this area from our specially-equipped Jungle Limos! You will then arrive to the Lost Canyon Ops Center and be greeted by the guides. You will get suited up with high-quality canyoneering gear. Your professional guides will give you a full safety talk and then we will head to the starting point of the Lost Canyon. Start off the rappelling-leg of your canyoning journey with the first waterfall referred to as the "Baby" -- a small-sized 10-ft waterfall that allows you to practice and ease your way into learning the ropes -- literally.  You will then hike deep into the rocky terrain of the wet and wild rainforest, surrounded by huge rocks, trees, and flowing streams. You’ll soon reach what we fondly call the “Big Boy” -- the second largest waterfall. Imagine this: there you are, on a sturdy platform looking down into the depths of a massive 150-ft tropical waterfall. You’ll start off by rappelling down the rock face and about half way through you’ll hear “LET GO!” – a few moments later you’ll have experienced your first guided, adrenaline pumping free fall!  You will finish your adventure with a 200ft waterfall drop -- rappelling part of the way and then letting go of the reins to experience another guided free fall drop! Talk about adrenaline! You'll be wanting even more rappels at the end of this amazing adventure! We then hike back up to the top (10-20 minutes), change into dry clothes, and head up to the Canyon Café where there will be a well-deserved homemade lunch waiting for you!   

Montezuma Tortuga Island Snorkeling & BBQ

A full afternoon at Tortuga Island snorkeling and relaxing. The volcanic rock reef is surrounded by crystalline that makes it an extraordinary snorkeling experience. Our captain will take you to the wonderful white sand beach of Tortuga Island where drinks and fruit will be waiting for you. For lunch our chef serves fresh BBQ fish, chicken, or veggies with delicious grilled potatoes and homemade bread. After lunch the afternoon will be yours to enjoy to hike, swim, rent a kayak, a banana boat, or take a siesta. We will start the day by taking you on a 50 minute boat ride along the coast with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean on the right and the beautiful Nicoya peninsula mountain on the left. During the boat ride, most of the time, you will be able to see dolphins, manta rays, primitive turtles, or if you are lucky, you can even enjoy watching humpback & pilot whales. Once we get to the stunning Tortuga Island we will anchor our boat next to the best points for snorkeling. Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park Tour

Volcanic activity such as bubbling mud pots, fumaroles, and a mini crater can be seen throughout the hike. You guide will explain the area's history and many interesting facts about the local flora and fuana.  After the hike you will be given a chance to change and we will take a short walk off the beaten path to Oropendola Waterfall just outside of the park.  Here you can jump in and take a refreshing swim in the blue lagoon below the 60 foot falls. Then we head over to a ranch where you will eat a typical Costa Rican lunch with fresh fruit juice while watching horses graze in the pasture. We end the day at the soothing hot springs of Rio Negro naturally heated by the Volcano where you can do a soothing volcanic mud bath before heading back to your hotel.
