You’ll soon reach what we fondly call the “Big Boy” -- the second largest waterfall. Imagine this: there you are, on a sturdy platform looking down into the depths of a massive 150-ft tropical waterfall. You’ll start off by rappelling down the rock face and about half way through you’ll hear “LET GO!” – a few moments later you’ll have experienced your first guided, adrenaline pumping free fall!  You will finish your adventure with a 200ft waterfall drop -- rappelling part of the way and then letting go of the reins to experience another guided free fall drop! Talk about adrenaline! You'll be wanting even more rappels at the end of this amazing adventure! We then hike back up to the top (10-20 minutes), change into dry clothes, and head up to the Canyon Café where there will be a well-deserved homemade lunch waiting for you!

Horseback Riding to La Fortuna Waterfall

Enjoy a peaceful horseback ride through the Costa Rican countryside to Arenal’s famous La Fortuna Waterfall. We’ll ride for approximately an hour, crossing two creeks and witnessing gorgeous views of the majestic Arenal volcano. Upon arrival at the trailhead, we’ll dismount our horses and hike over 300 steps down until we reach the swimming hole at the foot of this impressive waterfall. This where you will get to relax and cool off in the pool! Horseback riding in Costa Rica is a favorite activity among travelers. On this horseback ride to the La Fortuna Waterfall and Replica Indigenous Village, you will see the spectacular Arenal Volcano and dormant Cerro Chato Volcano off in the distance with gorgeous green countryside all around. The horses are sturdy and friendly bred for tourism and are well adapted to the wet, jungle environment of Costa Rica. This is a slow and easy ride up to the waterfall, so it is perfect for first-time riders, families, or people who really want to soak in the surrounding natural beauty.
